Sailing Mastery became part of BDO in a Life Mastery patch on9-4-2019. This is an added boost for players who have spent hours leveling the SailingLife Skill.

Sailing Mastery starts early on with unnoticeable benefits, but increases with each level.

For Sailing Mastery gear, the Sailing Mastery buffs only take effect when you have your Sailing Mastery gear on before boarding your own Epheria Frigate or Epheria Sailboat. (According to patch notes.)

Life Mastery Gear Enhancement

Life Mastery clothes and accessories can be improved by enhancement, using Black Gems crafted from Black Gem Fragments.

Life Mastery gear can be upgraded toPEN (V)
Enhancement levels increase the Life Mastery given
Life Mastery gear enhancement with Black Gems does not use the traditional Failstack system. Enhancement Chance is always a set amount no matter how much you fail.
Enhancement with Black Gems“have a higher success rate than the previous enhancement methods.” (70% PRI, 40% DUO, 30% TRI for greed grade.) Although it seems from player reports that RNG is a-foot!

Black Gem Fragment

Black Gem Fragments are used to create Black Gems and then Concentrated Magical Black Gems.

Obtain ByGathering:

Barehanded Gathering (excludes Golem gathering)
Hoe Gathering
Fluid/Blood Collecting
Tanning (Skinning)
Butchering (Hunting with a Matchlock/Sniper Rifle and then butchering will provide Black Gem Fragments as well.)
Lumbering

NOTE:The rates of fragments from chopping/sapping trees and mining is lower than butchering/bleeding animals or gathering herbs.

- Separate from the existing Sailing level, Sailing Mastery is a different value measuring the degree of your Sailing skill.

- – You can enhance Life Skill Mastery items up to PEN (V), and the higher the enhancement level, the more the Mastery will increase.
- – Life Skill Mastery clothes can be enhanced up to +5 without failure.
- – Green grade Mastery gear can be purchased from the NPC shop. Also, you can easily enhance them by using the Black Gem and Concentrated Magical Black Gem.
- – When enhancing with the Black Gem, the enhancement will not be affected by the enhancement chance increase and Valks’ chance increase you already had before.
- – When you fail an enhancement attempt while using the Black Gem, the enhancement chance increase value will not increase.
- – When you succeed an enhancement attempt while using the Black Gem, the enhancement chance increase value will not reset.
- – Enhancement attempts using the Black Gem have a higher success rate than the previous enhancement methods.
- –Please note for Loggia items that are enhanced with Black Stones, the enhancement chance will continue to be consumed and generated as usual.
- – You have a low chance to obtain Black Gems by butchering monsters you Hunt.

The above items will receive Enhancement Chance +1 when you fail enhancement at +8 and above.
Enhancement is affected by your Enhancement Chance, which is reset once you are successful with an enhancement.
You will lose 1 enhancement level when you fail enhancement at DUO and above.
