If you ask anyone at McQ what they would do for one of their brothers, it would be an emphatic "anything." I can't even put into words how lucky and thankful to God I am that I was able to attend McQuaid Jesuit for high school. on top of being inclusive and open to all it gets you ready for life and teaches you how to be a respectful young man. Our school spirit in unmatched at any sports event. We might have the smallest section, but we are always the loudest and proudest in the stands.   2. #2 Best Catholic High Schools in Monroe CountyOur Lady of Mercy School for Young WomenRochester, NY•Private School•6-12•Rating 4.01 out of 5 193 reviewsFreshman: I genuinely have loved every second being at Mercy, and sending your daughter here is definitely a gift everyone deserves. I will say though if your daughter doesn’t have great grades in your typical public school, she might not excel here. As someone who had all grades above a 98% at public school, now I average around a 90%. Although the school is very challenging, I feel like I learn a lot more being given more homework, and getting good grades feels much more rewarding. The people are genuinely so sweet - staff and students, and they are all very welcoming. The teachers are very qualified and they are really helpful when you advocate for yourself and ask. In general Mercy pushes for your daughter to grow more independent and be able to go out and conquer challenging tasks on her own, and they really do it amazingly. Overall I would definitely recommend this school!...   5. #4 Best Catholic High Schools in Monroe CountyBishop Kearney High SchoolRochester, NY•Private School•6-12•Rating 3.79 out of 5 48 reviewsAlum: Bishop Kearney is a great school. It is smaller than most schools, but has a unique feel and environment that most others can not compare with. The smaller class sizes help with 1-on-1 interactions; you get to know your teachers and classmates well. Most teachers are friendly and helpful. Many have been there for years. Students also are friendly. Most live across greater Rochester; a good size come from across the US, Canada, and some are International kids. The school offers many honors and AP classes. Lots of computer-based assignments, papers and projects, but still many handwritten assignments, notes, etc. Workload can get heavy during junior and senior year, but is good prep/experience for college. Facilities are a bit outdated, and could use some work. Has a good sports program; at least one team usually goes to sectionals every season. A good overall high school experience in general....   6. St. Lawrence Elementary SchoolRochester, NY•Private School•PK, K-6•Rating 4.2 out of 5 5 reviewsParent: I feel, as I know my parents did, that a Catholic school eduction is so much more than straight A's. It goes beyond the excellent academic rigor, smaller classroom settings, discipline and uniforms. A Catholic education fosters good morals and values that we want for our three daughters. We want them to be proud of their Catholic Religion, to turn to God for help when they need it; and to think of Him when making a decision or choice. We want them to learn about God not only at home and church, but in school as well. Being Catholic and attending a Catholic School is something so special and something to be proud of. We embrace that it teaches self-discipline, accepting responsibility, respecting others, humility; and commitment to God, family, friends, grades and oneself....   9. St. Joseph Elementary SchoolPenfield, NY•Private School•PK, K-6•Rating 2.25 out of 5 4 reviewsParent: My son has ADHD, and attended St. Joseph School from Kindergarten through fourth grade, and I can not tell you enough of how glad I am that we chose St. Joseph school. They nurtured him as well as any other child in their academically challenging and spiritually fostering program. The students, staff, administration, and parents are loving, respectful, and kind. My son would have most likely been placed in a special education environment and not have had the opportunity to be challenged and grow into the beautiful person he is today. I mourned leaving the school when our family decided to leave for a town south of Charlotte, because this school felt like our family. His first grade teacher did a reward chart for the behaviors she wanted to see and I supplied the tokens each day for a job well done, and I did have to work with him on his subjects at home each day after school; although, I had a newborn and a one year old, and soon had three children when he was in second grade. St. John Bosco SchoolEast Rochester, NY•Private School•PK, K-8•Rating 5 out of 5 1 reviewParent: We made the decision to send our children to St. John Bosco a few years ago, and it was one of the best decisions we have ever made for our family. We chose St. John Bosco over other schools because of the strong focus they have on faith and academics, which was clear when we toured the school. The children are happy and have grown academically, spiritually, and socially; we couldn't be more impressed with the school! The teachers and staff are amazing, and the families create a wonderful community at St. John Bosco. We enjoy being able to volunteer and be a part of the school.   18. Food & Finance High SchoolNew York City Geographic District No. 2, NY•9-12•Rating 3.6 out of 5 53 reviewsSenior: As a person who has been with this school pre covid and during covid I can say that this school is definitely trying to make their best efforts to return back to normal school days before covid. Although most clubs are inactive due to covid, before covid there were a variety of clubs to join and you could even suggest new ones. Since you learn how to cook in freshman year the food is good depending on how well you and your team make it. The 2 college advisors we have seem to have the answers to all the college questions students have and devote themselves to make sure students feel prepared, but they're isn't college readiness classes. Teachers are overall super nice and hold your hand most of the time. The school is very LGTBQ friendly but lacks having students of Indian ethic. Since the school is food based although we do have sport clubs they are not encouraged often;
