Well, that’s an important question! Basically, Lo mein is a simplified traditional Chinese dish made with egg noodles. It contains all different vegetables and some type of seafood or meat, usually chicken, beef, pork, shrimp or wontons (Chinese dumpling). It can also be eaten with just vegetables.

Sauce Used in Lo Mein

We will use Soy sauce at the last when tossing the chicken and vegetables to get that slightly sweet and amazing flavor. Use sesame oil to cook the egg noddles so that the noodles did not stick together when the tossing of the ingredients will be done. Finally, hoisin sauce – is a thick, fragrant sauce commonly used in Chinese cuisine as a glaze for meat, an addition to stir-fries, or as a dipping sauce.

What is the difference between Lo Mein and Chow Mein?

The main difference between chow mein and lo mein is the methods used to make these stir-fry noodles are different. Both lo mein and chow mein use wheat-flour egg noodles. Lo mein noodles are boiled to softness and authentic chow mein noodles are fried to crispness. When it comes to nutrition value, both have pretty much the same, but the ingredients used when stir-frying decides the healthiness of both chow mein or lo mein dish.
