There are so many healthcare professionals outside Canada (especially in the Philippines) who are professionally qualified but have a hard time finding a job.
- You as an employer help add to Canada's workforce of professional healthcare employees.
- You help Immigration Canada in its mission to get professional immigrants to Canada and support Canada's population, economic income, and wealth.
- You save on income taxes. You can deduct $7000/year per child on your income tax. If you have 2 children, you save $14,000/year on income taxes. This money is deducted from the spouse (parent) with a lower income.
- Live-in nannies can help you with other home duties such as cleaning the house, cooking food, doing laundry, helping a child to go to school (drop and pick up), groceries, shopping, travel, etc.
- Live-in nannies work full time for you, therefore, you will have flexible time, and not have to worry about your kids.

- Financial capacity. The employer must be capable of paying the employee minimum wage. This wage varies per province, $10.25/hour in Ontario (2012). This is roughly $1600 per month.
- Private room for a nanny. Bedroom Description - Size and area, safety, furnishings, window, telephone, internet requirements as set by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada - HRSDC
- Live-in nanny job advertisem*nt for a minimum of 14 calendar days. Job bank Service Canada website ( job advertisem*nt, Kijiji.ca, Craigslist.org, Metro newspaper, etc. After advertising, you will interview nanny applicants. Note that applicants are many all over the world. Make sure you have a good checklist of the qualities and character traits that suits your needs and your children and that is fair and best for the nanny too. Record the results of the interviews because you will need to submit proof of your efforts to recruit nannies.
- Employer Business Number. Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Business Registration for Payroll Deductions account. This is where the CPP, income taxes, and EI benefits for the employee are taken from.
- LABOUR MARKET OPINION (LMO) for FOREIGN LIVE-IN CAREGIVER.
- Employment Contract. LIVE-IN CAREGIVER EMPLOYER/EMPLOYEE CONTRACT.

Employee Requirements (Applying for Work Permit)
- APPLICATION FOR A WORK PERMIT UNDER THE LIVE-IN CAREGIVER PROGRAM. Download the checklist on the Helpful Links below.
- Medical exam.
- Family Information.
- Additional Form for Live-in Caregiver.
- Valid passport.
- Photocopy of the picture page of the passport.
- Processing fee.
- Employment contract signed by the employee (nanny, caregiver) and employer.
- Positive (Approved) Labour Market Opinion (LMO).
- Original records of education after high school. Must have at least 72 credits.
- Minimum of 6 months of accredited full-time training.
- Letter of Employment showing duties.
- Employment certificates.
- Proof of employer's Social Security System (SSS) and/or Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) contributions.
- NBI certificate/clearance.
- Use of Representative form (if you require the services of an Agency, Consultant, or Third-party representative during your application).
- Authority to release personal information form.
- Police Certificates.
