Abstract
The term epidermal collarette has been used to describe the infoldings of epithelium frequently seen around or embracing pyogenic granulomas and verrucae. In this paper, collarettes are demonstrated in a variety of lesions, and are shown to be formed by epithelial adnexa and not of the epidermis. A theory about the collarette as a formation of adnexal epithelium is proposed.
