King cobra and python kill each other in fight (2024)

A photo circulated on Reddit this weekend, showing a king cobra and reticulated python both dead after what had to be the most intense snake battle in history.

The King has met its match…

The cobra's eagerness may have led to its downfall - perhaps it bit the python and then strayed a little too close while waiting for it to succumb, he suggested.

And the python didn't give up without a fight. Its powerful constriction appears to have trapped and killed the cobra, even as the python died from the cobra's venom.
