Overview[ | ]

The Lock Pick is a type of equipment in DayZ. It is used to lock and unlock doors for the purpose of securing a building against other players. It can also be used to unlock locked doors from other players, giving your team an advantage in battle. You can also lock sheds that you stashed your loot in, in between server restarts. Therefor making this a very powerful item in PVP, when used correctly. Anyone can open a locked door simply by shooting at the door handle area (NOTE: amount of bullets needed differs per caliber used) or by punching it about 50 times. Locked doors unlock automatically after a server restart. Similar to the Handcuff Keys, they can also be used to unlock Handcuffs.

Notes[ | ]

  • That most doors can be shot through, with the exception of metal doors
  • That depending on the server sometimes doors do not open after a server restart

Trivia[ | ]

  • Both the 2D and 3D models are based on the BrockHage Jack-Knife lock pick set
