Get ready, rugby fans! Ruahei Demant, the former World Player of the Year, is set to electrify the Bristol Bears with a short-term deal! This is huge news for the team and a fantastic opportunity for Demant.
The 30-year-old New Zealand fly-half, a true powerhouse on the field, will be joining the Bears for a four-month stint. Remember the 2021 Women's Rugby World Cup (played in 2022)? Demant was the star of the show, earning the coveted Player of the Match title.
Demant's versatility is a real asset. She can dominate at fly-half or centre, giving the Bears' coaching staff plenty of tactical options. She's scheduled to link up with the team just in time for their Premiership Women's Rugby clash against the reigning champions, Gloucester-Hartpury, on Sunday, November 30th.
Demant herself is brimming with excitement. "I'm so excited to have the opportunity to represent Bristol Bears in a world leading competition like the PWR," she shared. "I can't wait to meet the girls, the management and the fans all while growing as a person and a player. I'm extremely grateful NZR [New Zealand Rugby] have allowed me to explore this opportunity and will return refreshed and ready for PAC4 [Pacific Four Series] in April."
And this is where her achievements get really impressive: Demant is one of only three female players to have earned 50 international caps for New Zealand! She's also racked up an impressive 130 points for her country.
