Get ready for a knockout! Grindstone Entertainment has secured the domestic distribution rights for the upcoming MMA action drama, Beast in Me, starring the one and only Russell Crowe. This film promises a thrilling ride, but it's the story's heart that truly captivates.
Crowe, also a co-writer on the project with David Frigerio, brings to life a former MMA legend. This family man is drawn back into the brutal world of the cage for a high-stakes rematch against the very champion he once conquered. Now, facing the odds as the underdog, he must battle not only his opponent but also the ghosts of his past, the weight of grief, and the ever-present guilt. All of this, to secure one last victory for his family and himself. It's a powerful narrative that delves into the complexities of redemption and the sacrifices we make for those we love.
This isn't Crowe's first foray into the world of screenwriting. He previously co-wrote and directed the 2022 feature Poker Face, demonstrating his multifaceted talent. Beast in Me is directed by Tyler Atkins and was filmed in the vibrant locations of Australia and Bangkok. The production involved a collaboration with ONE Championship, a prominent Asian martial arts franchise, adding authenticity to the fight sequences. The Solution Entertainment Group handled the movie's sales during the past winter at EFM.
Grindstone Entertainment Group, led by President and CEO Barry Brooker and principal Stan Wertlieb, has a distribution deal with Lionsgate, extending through 2027. This partnership has cultivated a library of over 700 titles. Some of Grindstone's previous releases include the thriller Fall, Damaged with Sam Jackson and Vincent Cassel, How the Gringo Stole Christmas starring George Lopez, Desperation Road, Manodrome with Jesse Eisenberg, and Lamborghini featuring Frank Grillo, Mira Sorvino, and Gabriel Byrne.
But here's where it gets interesting... Russell Crowe is also starring in Sony Pictures Classics' upcoming awards season contender, Nuremberg. Furthermore, David Frigerio, the co-writer of Beast in Me, previously collaborated on the film Land of Bad, featuring Luke and Liam Hemsworth, directed by William Eubank.
