In the United States, the average age of a registered nurse was 43.6 years old. The average age of male registered nurses was 42.2, lower compared to 43.7 years for female registered nurses. With a total of 439,917 nurses, most registered nurses were part of the 30 to 34 years old age group in 2021. There were even 714 registered nurses aged 85 to 88 years old.
