How accurate is BBC Weather? ›

In a composite measure of accuracy, the Weather Channel and Weather Underground came top, AccuWeather fifth, MeteoGroup (the BBC's new provider) sixth and the BBC ninth (based on Met Office forecasts). On the correct prediction of precipitation, MeteoGroup came fourth overall and the BBC 10th of the 12.

I trust BBC weather for my area. Seems pretty accurate most of the time. I use both Met Office and BBC Weather apps on my phone. They can both be wrong but I find that the Met Office one is more accurate, more often.

The information is from the met office, so it's the best forecast available, and is accurate over the next few days. I use it every day, and I get caught by unexpected rain less than once a month.

So what does a 20% chance of rain actually mean? It means that out of 100 situations with similar weather, it should rain on 20 of those, and not rain on 80. In a nutshell, it means that, whilst you may get some rain, it's much more likely (but not certain) to stay dry.
