A Rare Opportunity

Goldcrest Farms is more than just “a farm”. Its vast scale and unique attributes provide a wealth of options for an operator to increase revenues, reduce costs, brand product and de-risk supply chain concerns.

The World changed in 2020. Covid-19 has brought concerns about food security, supply chain bottlenecks, panic buying and empty shelves to the forefront of mainstream media. Never before has Western society had to worry about food security during peacetime. Moreover, this is happening at a time when diets are changing, with buyers increasingly adamant to know what they are eating and where it came from.

Goldcrest Farms offers a turnkey opportunity to solve some of these concerns. At scale.

We Made a Great Property Even Better

Beginning in Q1 2019, Goldcrest Farm Trust Advisors, in partnership with Valmont Industries, began a full-scale redevelopment of Goldcrest Farms.

The objective: to make a great farm even better by retrofitting it with new best-in-class irrigation technology offering modern sustainability solutions that lower water usage and improve an operator’s bottom line.

Installed state-of-the-art irrigation technology

  • 7 American Marsh Vertical Turbine pumps with electric motors capable of pumping 140,000 gallons of water per minute – enough to cover 5 acres with 1” of water every minute
  • Installed 425,000 feet (80 miles) of underground pipeline for center pivot and flood irrigation, along with 30 re-lift stations
  • Erected 56 Valley center pivots with Low Elevation Spray Application (LESA) and Low Energy Precision Application (LEPA) systems
  • Infrastructure capable of efficiently irrigating over 20,000 acres via flood or pivot

Sustainability

Encourage lower water usage and improved operating margins

  • Turbine pumps offer large volume/low flow for precise depth of water application
  • Electric motors are paired with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) that adjust water flow and pressure to target needs and can reduce energy and maintenance costs by 25-50%
  • Pivots have Low Elevation Spray Application (LESA) and Low Energy Precision Application (LEPA) systems
  • Precision-leveled 7,400 acres (3,000,000 cubic yards) of farmland to enable a rice or furrow irrigated cropping option that limits erosion and nitrogen runoff
  • Cleaned or added 33 miles of irrigation ditches, reservoirs and bayous to improve drainage and enable sustainable water recapture

Improve crop marketing potential

Forthcoming 2,200,000-bushel on-farm grain storage facility that will be constructed in Q1 2021

  • North Farm: 800,000-bushel capacity: 14x 57,000-bushel loop system
